With my two zone MrCool the indoor units can modulate fan speed as well as cooling. I'm not sure if cooling is "on/off" or if output temp can be modulated, but it is common one is blowing cold air and one will just be in fan mode with no cooling happening even though both units are set to "cool"...

I got some granyte stormgear bibs and jacket for tuna last season at the local farm and ranch store. I've been pretty impressed at about $35/item. Highly recommended for occasional use especially for activities that may damage my nicer rain wear.

I've usually noticed it as a truck thing rather than country vs city. Though there are more trucks in the country so I suppose overall people are backing in at a higher rate in the country.
