    Goodnews River Alaska Float

Missed this back then, sorry. We didn't have much for gear failures but I'll add my highlights and lowlights. Gloves: having some thick latex style gloves was nice for moisture management and a bit or warmth. The waterproof Kinco gloves mentioned above were a mint comfort item for camp and...

    NFR Names for Upcoming Kiddo

Some solid outdoor B names in here folks. I started to quote post them but it was getting redundant. Nice suggestions though! Some potentials in here I think! My wife is a fan of male-ish names for girls. Don't think Bert will pass the muster though. ha I hadn't realized this was a thing until...

    NFR Names for Upcoming Kiddo

Actually been thinking about both of these. Need to add Chartreuse Sex Dungeon to the list to run by my wife. :ROFLMAO:

    NFR Names for Upcoming Kiddo

I have a baby girl on the way basically any day now. We have been tossing names around for months and months and really struggling with kid #2. Looking for some inspiration especially PNW and outdoor themes. Extra credit for a winning name starting with B. Let's see what you got!

    Puget Sound

It was September 14, 2013. Super unexpected. I've never seen or heard of another caught in that area. It’s not as bright as you might remember, but still one cool fish. Looks like it had been caught in a net or by a seal. Took a pink over white clouser if I remember right.

    What's your fishing rig?

Yeah I usually rub my flies through it whenever I see it in a parking lot. Hot fishing always follows!

    The Mountain Bike Thread

My mountain biking update is in late June I had a pretty bad crash that resulted in a couple broken bones in my wrist and a couple broken bones in my face. I had wrist surgery and reconstructive face surgery on back to back days in early July. I now have titanium plates in both locations. Put...

NFR Installing mini-split ductless AC/Heating system?

I'm mainly just irritated at myself for not doing this so much sooner! They have probably fixed it, but we bought ours through Home Depot online. At the time they were selling the "Gen 3" units for about $1000 off but shipping Gen 4 units to everyone. I think out 27k BTU 2 zone unit was around...

NFR Installing mini-split ductless AC/Heating system?

They aren't perfect but it's a MASSIVE upgrade over wall heaters and windows A/C units! The drama free quiet cool in our house this week has been amazing vs having multiple portable A/Cs on full blast and still not keeping up all while having to yell or have the TV cranked to hear anything over...

NFR Installing mini-split ductless AC/Heating system?

With my two zone MrCool the indoor units can modulate fan speed as well as cooling. I'm not sure if cooling is "on/off" or if output temp can be modulated, but it is common one is blowing cold air and one will just be in fan mode with no cooling happening even though both units are set to "cool"...

    NFR Misinformation susceptibility test

20/20 for me and I'm even a millennial :sneaky: I did have pause on a couple of them, but they mostly seemed obvious due to overly alarmist language on the fake ones.

    Sage Salt

I still have an 8wt as my main/primary 8wt. It doesn't get used super often these days but it's a decent rod. Like @DimeBrite I have always felt it's a bit underpowered for long distances and heavy lines/flies I am often using with it. Quite fragile too.

NFR Installing mini-split ductless AC/Heating system?

I just installed a 2 zone system this spring. Install was not bad (can be easier or harder based on layout of your house and locations of indoor and outdoor units). We have been supremely satisfied with it so far. Haven't used it for heat yet, but it has been incredible for cooling. I had a...

    6wt beach rod........

I got a 7wt boost blue last year for an AK trip. Was looking forward to getting it in the salt a bit this year but unfortunately I broke my wrist right before beach salmon season started and will not be doing any fly casting. I really liked the rod though in my limited use last year. The main...

    Official Beach Line Thread

I do think that our style of beach fishing is about as tough of conditions a line will see. When blind casting for coho we are casting much more frequently than most fishers, our cast almost always hinge on the same section of the fly line (first section of running line after shooting head), and...

NFR Has anyone heard from Old Man Jim? Update: RIP OMJ. Give ‘em hell wherever you are!

Oh man he's going to hate this. He tried the saltwater once and ruined all his shit as he loved to tell every time he (for some reason) wandered to the saltwater forum or anyone brought up saltwater. RIP Jim.

    NFR Let's talk "slicks".

I got some granyte stormgear bibs and jacket for tuna last season at the local farm and ranch store. I've been pretty impressed at about $35/item. Highly recommended for occasional use especially for activities that may damage my nicer rain wear.

NFR Why do people in the country back in to park, and in the city they pull in?

I've usually noticed it as a truck thing rather than country vs city. Though there are more trucks in the country so I suppose overall people are backing in at a higher rate in the country.
