Your basic brown, but the color, for whatever reason is nice. Maybe it is the Fall vegetation. Same for this little walleye.

I wouldn’t call this guy purdy but he’s been kinda unforgetable for me because he was so dark…..almost black.

I used to catch brookies out of a Snoqualmie fork that took on this kind of darkness, pretty striking. Was the water pretty tannic?

I'm also a bit partial to the Alpine trout that carry their Parr markings for what seams like longer than their lowland homies.

I've noticed this too. I fish a small alpine creek with dark lava gravel and the tiny brookies turn a gorgeous charcoal black. A color phase I haven't seen elsewhere.
