I came as close to it as I’m willing on the internet. Places where S rivers hit the salt water, and where sizable creeks run in, are often good places to start.

Add to that a map or two from the internet showing eelgrass beds and places where they are trying to reestablish or have established native oyster stock…there's some overlap in north Sound.

Not all of those overlapping places will work out, but keep on it and you’ll find them...eventually.

Funny you speak of challenges. Wednesday or Thursday, I am thinking of trying the west side MA 9,10,11,12,13 src caught in a day challenge. It was that or maybe drive out to the coast for the first time in 7 years and see if I could luck into an early hatchery steelhead. Since the rivers will likely be blown and my chances of catching a steelhead…are, well we all know that, I think the west side 9,10,11,12,13 src caught in a day challenge may be on!

Not sure why I need a challenge. Thought it might be something fun to do.

You are certainly on the correct side when it comes to those first few marine areas. Should get easier as you head south.

Good luck….and bring a headlamp in case you run out of daylight.

Famous last words but I think 9 and 10 are a lock! A couple of spots I have been hitting recently have kicked out fish consistently. 11 has me a bit concerned. I think that’s where I may need to work hard for a fish. If I can knock out an eastern shore 12 fish on my way to 9, it’ll save me a bunch of time not having to drive around. That’s a toss up though.

I think it’s doable. I might even be able to knock it out in time for dinner

. We’ll see.

I had 9 locked in well enough that I never felt the need to leave that one beach, but for various reasons cannot access it anymore. For some reason the beaches just a few miles north or south don’t produce even half the fish the other one did, but I am sure I’ll find them again with a little exploration

I believe you are on the east side of the sound, correct? I have not spent much time at all fishing over there but I think west side sound 9 and 10 beaches fish much better in winter. I still head south most of the time because the quality and quantity is better but I have a few close by spots up that will kick out fish through the winter. Nice to have if I only have a couple of hours to get out.

I am really glad I ended up in this side when I moved here. Was not my first choice. So many solid src and salmon options fairly close by.

Big December king tides, high river flows into Puget Sound, plus low pressure system storm with west winds spells flooding. The climate change folks will be snapping their annual coastal flooding photos all week.

Yeah - the neighbor's cabin on HC that I stay at - a foot of water inside this morning. First time it's gotten that high, ever.

That sucks!
Just talked to my buddy who lives on the canal. Huge logs floated way in with this mornings high tide past his place. He said eel grass is stacked nearly 3’ high in spots. One neighbor took on heavy water in his basement. He said another neighbor’s yard is covered with oyster shells, big logs etc and someone’s boat that floated in.
They had to close the main road due to water over the roadway. Some crazy shit out there today.
