It’s been a long time since I’ve fished for lings with a circle hook, will have to keep that in mind! Also has other flies with regular hooks too so it’ll interesting.

I experimented with circle hooks quite a bit years back when I was spending a fair amount of time chasing lings on the sound, but eventually moved away from them. Just couldn't not set the hook lol. Once they grab they don't often come unbuttoned, but at least for me its just so friggen tough to not react when I'm stripping flies, especially with the a real savage grab.

tail - yarn sunburst
body - Ice Dub pheasant tail/hackle brown (loop dubbed)
shoulder - pheasant rump

when running Ling Cod Wednesday trips on my 65' sportfisher to the high peaks 12 miles offshore, my customers and I pounded them with chrome hex bars.. so a husky fly tied with just silver flash?
