Brant are so cool - they have been known to make nonstop transoceanic flights from Alaska to the West Coast and even Mexico. They nest in the Yukon/Kuskokwim Delta so I'm guessing they're slowly working their way north.
Love those brants. They come down here to Morro Bay in winter and after a long migration south to get here, they get shot at while trying to recuperate for a long migration back the other way. I'm not anti-hunting at all, but as our human population grows and formerly natural areas become suburban housing, perhaps some areas should be closed to shooting. If I was still hunting, I would go after the big Canadians as they are pests anyway, and more meat on em.

Fished white buoy beach in MA 123 from 8:00 until 1:00 today. 38° when I started and mid 40’s when I quit when the tide puked out.
Nice cloud cover, good water movement and just a bit of wind to create a chop.
Decent day with over a dozen fish to hand. Action was either good or dead. Fish were podded up or it was just casting into dead water. Walked a bit over two miles back and forth and only found fish in three spots.
I was working my way down current and noticed fish rising between a sunken point and the white buoy. I finally got to a point where I could cast to those fish and caught five out of that group and missed a few others.
The only lone fish was the biggest of the day. It came about five minutes into fishing. I could see it tracking the fly then the white of its mouth as it opened to take the fly. Three jumps later and into the net. Kind of a skinny fish, likely post spawn.
Used the same fly all day, a small 2” bead chain eye sandlance. Probably should have played the small game on the risers but not my favorite way to fish them.
Some nice spotting and color on some of the fish .
Puget Sound and Hood Canal continue to suck.

Took a couple of buddies out on the sound today. Weather was pretty incredible, sure didn't feel like February. I dressed in way too many layers and by the afternoon was stripping down.

Fishing was pretty darn good for this time of year. Cutthroat were found at every spot we hit, with a few areas providing very consistent action. Some nice healthy fish were caught, and a few of them really worked us over in some fast current. We came across two random pods of rezzies that added to the fun.

Fly didn't seem to matter much today. Seemed just about everything I pulled out of my boxes got it done but top producers were squimp and a standard chartreuse and white clouser. I always love it when they'll eat a simple clouser.

One of the guys brought one of those fancy aquariums his wife bought him thru the wild fish conservancy. It was my first experience using one of those. I gotta say I was not impressed and will not consider adding one to my boat moving forward.

Super fun day on the old Puget Suck.

Took my boat out for the first time this year with @Kfish. Started at sunrise and fished to about 11 am. Fished a number of different spots on the last of incoming and slack before finally finding some fish off a single beach once the tide switched. Foggy in the morning but cleared pretty early and the sun was finally poking through as we were leaving the water. Not an incredible morning of fishing by any means but fish were caught and I imagine had we fished longer into the outgoing it could have really picked up.

Very calm morning….

That was fun, leaving the net in your truck counteracted the missing mojo of your lime reel. Could have skunked!

Slow day for me on cutts on a beach I don’t fish very often. Should have gone back to where I fished yesterday. Nice day none the less to be out though.

Found a spot where a couple currents and the breeze were creating a nice patch of nervous water. I've been wanting to try the gurgler/dropper setup @Stonedfish debuted awhile back, so I went through it with a sound searcher on top and a nothing with an attitude dropper. Got a take on the dropper and two smacks on the searcher, but none of them stuck. I came back through with an intermediate line and one of the patterns I tied for the MM swap and got one.

Non-fishing expedition down to a lagoon. I fished it once a while back, but there’s not much structure or current and I was blanked. The tide was getting low, but there was still some decent outflow into the sound.
