A popper in sort of dragonfly colors for when I see fish busting dragonflies and want to tell myself

Very nice! That's exactly the sparse look that I try for!
BTW, have you tried it with a gold body for river coho? I've had good success with that. Some people also tie this pattern with blue feathers and hair, specifically for river coho, but I've not tried that yet.
Thanks. The fly pictured is a size 8 -I like this pattern a lot for trout too! I'll usually use a 4 or 6 for Coho, but have some in 2 also. I like to fish it for Coho in low water on a clear camo intermediate line.

I pretty much always use silver but I think I'll make some gold ones now too. About the only thing I really vary much is the color of the Crystal Flash, I like to sometimes use red for Cohos, usually it's pearl but sometimes pink or lavender.

The photo doesn't show it, but there's a band of red tying thread visible from underneath just behind the spun head. I was browsing fly tying materials website and saw where tufts of uni-stretch is sometimes used to imitate gills. I'm going to add an extra step and try that on my next batch if I have any in red or wine colored uni-stretch.
