Hackles are a little long, it will fish. Bucktail and Nayat, hard to go wrong.

SLS Softhackle (variation)

Another one from Blue Ribbon Flies; stands for Slough, Lamar, Soda Butte but could just as easily be Simple Little Softhackle. Subbed dyed pheasant for the woodduck tail since it went better with the tannish orange dubbing/thread color palate.

tail - pheasant rump dyed golden olive (2 Tsp Rit Golden Yellow, 1/4 Tsp Rit Camel/2 cups water)
abdomen - tying thread
thorax - SLS Zelon dubbing

A dragon fly popper. As yet untested.


Hook: TMC 8089 #6
Body: 2 mm blue foam
Wings: krystal flash tied spent wing style. UV resin at base to stiffen the wing and help it hold position.
Legs: one rubber leg on each side
Head: small white double barrel popper head. Colored with marker

I agree.

Another version, with hackle. And used the top of the mallard feather from the body for the wing.
And got the abdomen twisting up the right way

Cemented to some nice weighted hooks and I think you really got something. Should also work for pike on a gear rod.
