I have been throwing more traditional patterns lately. They actually fish better in lots of water with less grains and more belly to throw them. Winter fish on a floating line and iron are just as easy as the skagit and tip program. In pocket water sometimes superior. Nice looking flies, fish and classy rig. I dig the shrimp stuff.

Steelhead
I'd never really noticed the streaking in a fresh run steelhead's tail until Monday. Looked like the fish had crystal flash embedded in the tail.

Tail rays are one of my favorite features on steelhead, somewhere I have dozens of pics, probably most on film.

If there's one photo I try to get of fish, it's a tail shot. Especially on a sunny day.
