Life of the Party
(Edit because I forgot a few photos) For the sake of creating content to help boost the site, an amateur step-by-step for an olive squirrel nymph.

Start with a nymph hook, here’s size 10, but 8-12 is fine. Start olive thread at the shank behind the eye. (Cleaning dubbing off the vise is optional)

Attach bead chain eyes about an eye length or so behind the eye. Leave some space for a little dubbing and a whip finish. Move thread back to between the hook point and barb.

Tie in olive marabou. No need to smooth out the body, it’ll be covered by dubbing.

Tie in mirage tinsel for ribbing.

Dub the body right up to behind the eyes with olive squirrel dub (here Wotton Squirrel Dubbing). Make it buggy.

Wind rubbing up to the eyes and tie off.

Add some more dubbing and wrap around the eyes a few times and then in front of the eyes. SHHAN and whip finish.

This can be done with whatever colors you got. I’m liking how it looks so I’ll probably try out a range of colors.9A18C823-D4BD-4CA4-8E3E-F76EB4C71C26.jpeg
