Raft newbie. How heavy an anchor for an 11' two man raft. Plan on class 2 rivers at most....class 3 if I screw up. Is there a recommended type and thickness of rope?
Thanks for help.

15lb non- lead anchor, only anchor in soft water. Buy a polypropylene rope at a box store, 3/8”-1/2” in diameter (whatever fits your anchor setup) but bigger is easier on the hands. Polypro floats, so if your anchor gets jammed you can go to shore, walk back, grab the rope and retrieve your anchor. Do not go heavy so you can anchor in heavy water unless you seek to meet rescuers professionally.
As the previous post stated, pay attention to where you drop anchor first! Buy longer rope then you think you need. A locking carabiner is a must. In my opinion a 11’ raft anchor should be between 15 - 25 lbs. I’ve been using the tornado anchor with great results, but do some research to what type of anchors others are using on the water you plan on rafting on.
Thanks everyone. I'll go with a 25# tornado anchor. Just have to get out on the water now! I've seen some guides store it in a bucket while not in use.
