I am a techno idiot so please bear wth me. What does the little square box that precedes some threads mean. I am talking about the SFR or NFR little icons?

When these came up the first time about 22 years ago. They were some what shorter. Some fishing related and Non fishing related. If you report on what you caught or didn't catch(Skunked) you don't need a header. It's when you want to talk about anything not fishing related you need a header. NF It's only required at the first post in a thread.
