I just read there was a helicopter that crashed into Merrill on the North end. It was a fire fighting operation, crashing into lake making a water pickup run. 200 gallons of jet fuel and hydraulic fluid into the lake. The lake is obviously closed for cleanup. My comment: crap and hell!

Hope the pilot is OK.

A friend and I watched two helicopters making water dumps on a fire over by Naches a few weeks ago. As fast as they were making turn arounds suggests there isn't any margin for error.

My wife and I paddled/fished Merrill on Monday. The helicopters started making water runs pretty early in the morning. I was surprised to hear about the accident, but when we were only a couple hundred yards away when they started coming in I told my wife we could be in trouble if something goes wrong so we headed to the ramp.
