Wishing I was fishing the Sauk
Water is still too low and too many pinks, next weks rain will help but I don't get serious on pink years until late October!

Getting them on the Cowlitz. I got 2 bucks on Friday. Back trolled 3.5 Maglips ( Misty River) with coonshrimp wrapped on the belly. Had 3 other takedowns that didn't make it to the boat. The 2 fish were like 6 hours apart so it was a long day

Thankyou. I was out Saturday and the bite was off for me. I threw the whole tackle box at them fished from 6 to 6 that day.
Im hoping that this rain will add a bit of color. Im using some pto up and headed out Tuesday. Its time for me to learn to use live bait. Thanks again.

Its already crawling with them upstream of concrete, but you need to actively work to keep the pinks off.

Live bait? Coonshrimp are most definitely dead when used in this manner.

They’re all over the basin right now, walked out with the dog on Saturday to the mouth of a river and found them grouped up under logs.

Lost a few flys and long distance released one. This rain is going to help get them moving.

Saw a few pods of bright fish moving up a local SWW river today. No biters, but I was checking out a new spot. I have some ideas on how I'd gear up if I go back but trying a more familiar crick tomorrow. Should be a steady parade of chinook with this rain. A bit early for coho there, but still a chance for late summer steel.

Edit: Actually called it for a change. Shit tons of dark chinook jamming upriver with the rain. Nothing worth keeping but lots fun. Pretty sure I saw a few coho too.

Edit 2: Apologies for the fly porn. Forgot this was the Dirtbag forum. I also hooked 2 drifting eggs.

I was scouting my coho river in verylow water and sunshine last week, my honey hole had cleared out of crap and I went 1-3. Even got one in a hole I knew would hold fish and never did.

Went out yesterday after the rain and was promptly humbled. When they roll between you and your line, life sucks!
