Hunting smallies was slow on the river today, i was fishing a new stretch and came to the last pool, i cast in only about 10 ft gave the googly eye a little pop, this pool was fairly clear and i seen a big one nonchalant like come check out my frog, i gave it a tiny pop and i watched the Brute come up and grab it. Now i either set a bit early, might a been a trout set, also with almost no line out for some reason i had to get him on the reel, and he gone. I fished elsewhere for ten minutes or so then tried throwing a little bait fish pattern at him, nothing.
My question is to all you who have more than my months experience of fishing smallmouth...
How long until i can go back to that fish?
