Bass fishing? Largemouth? Smallmouth?

There are better baits than Rapala. Though Rapalas do work. My favorite jerkbsit is the Smithwick Rogue. Great for smallmouth and walleye. They come is floating and suspending models personally I'd stay away from from count down models. If you need to fish deeper there are better baits than jerkbaits.
