The best customer service we get in the shop is from Echo. Sage and Redington (aka: Far Bank) has been good too but not as seamless as Echo.
Quality Portugese cork is getting scarce. Good cork can go for $2 or $3 a ring. It used to be 10 cents when I built my first few rods.
Also important to...
The little grey tag, yes that's true. But you also have to cut along the side label and people like to see before they buy and so I have to break both those seals to open the box. Then people ask why it's been opened.
The old plastic envelopes allowed us to see the hook. Now you can't unless...
Maybe look at it this way...a hook is either right or it's not. How many hook manufacturers are there or have there been that are no more?
Plenty. Flyhooks.org lists over 60.
Do we want hooks to be all the same? Not me. Hooks and their differences is worth celebrating and not something to be...

I got carried away. I think I may need some sort of 12 step program to limit my consumption of fly tying materials.
But, then again, I can quit anytime. Yup anytime I want....
Seals and sealions eat salmonid smolts too, not just adult fish. And aquaculture net pens do have anti predator nets around them but sealions tear at them and once a hole is made they will exploit it.
If we are going to 'manage' the pretty species, we have to manage the predator species too...
I lived in Whitehorse for 5 years. 10 months of winter and 2 months when dog mushing was tough. But good grayling then in the Morley and the Takhini. Also RBT in the Kathleen. Beautiful scenery. Blackflies. Mosquitos. Deerflies.
Ordered $250 worth from FTD once. It spilled off the countertop onto the floor. If I were a dog I would have rolled around in it. That's a huge pile of stuff!
I was a little excited.
