Looks like it might be a wet weekend for the opener, at least on the west side.
I remember getting snowed on during opening day weekend a few times back in the 60’s.
Good luck to everyone this weekend.

Hit a little local lake for a couple hours this morning to target bass for the first time seriously this spring. A little warm up before hitting a bigger lake tomorrow. All small fish but a half dozen and all on top water. Hoping for a good day targeting their smaller mouthed, hopefully larger cousins tomorrow.

Stockers was slow, switched to a popper and got 5 to hit it, hooked 2, landed the little one, the other one was quite nice sized, got a good jump out of it then it took me into a stick and got off. On the board for poppers this year anyway!

I think they’re awake. The water felt warmer than the air. I managed to get 5 eats on the popper in a couple hours of fishing. The first two didn’t stick (I blame my timing), the third I hooked up and played the fish like a wimp and let it get into the weeds and toss the fly. I didn’t mess up the last two. Sometimes it takes me a while to (re)learn a lesson.

Nice! Water temp was 66 and some big bass were seen when @Fishues and I went after them on Tuesday. But for some reason the bite was totally off, both for poppers and subsurface. But yeah clearly they’re not asleep anymore! That second fish is a healthy specimen.

The lake I was at last week, I could see they were on beds or cruising the general bedding areas, and VERY spooky in the clear shallow water and bright sun. I think the little weather front we had move in may have worked in my favor.
