YES! I was really bummed that an electric range was the only option with the new house (under construction). We had a gas range at the house we sold and man do I miss it - and a real wok. Something like this WILL be on the back deck, maybe more than one for canning.
Good question. Especially with the advent of gel-spun lines. 10# braid is pretty much like fishing thread, with virtually no stretch, and plenty of strength to handle kokanee. I'd think even a quarter ounce should get plenty deep.

I got one over 4# many years ago. I recall reading that before the dams went in they got much bigger. Big, but maybe not as big as the closely related Colorado pikeminnow which, if you can believe Wikipedia, once exceeded 6' and 100#.
