Anyone have a high quality (doesn't have to mean expensive) tying light they could suggest? I feel like it's time to update my light on my desk. Right now its a single--relatively shitty) LED light.

thanks!

So many options. Do you have a preference on which one? Kinda screamin' deals on them.

Something like this? https://www.joann.com/p/ottlite-26in-dual-head-led-desk-lamp/16156606.html

that looks like it would produce a nice wide light spread.
We have several Ottlites for our hobbies, and they all produce excellent light for detail work.
My current fly bench has a ring lite with a magnifier, which doesn't work as well as I thought it would, PIA to correctly adjust for magnification...so instead use up-powered reading glasses when tying.

I've still got (relatively) young eyes--so for now--just looking at a light.
Regardless, thanks for the tip. they're more than 50% off right now.

For $18.99, I got a great little swing-arm lamp that will light in three different color modes (white light, daylight, and warm light), with brightness also adjustable. I bought it from Amazon.

By the way, I hasten to add that this is the picture from the Amazon site - my desk has NEVER looked that neat and tidy.

I’ve been using 3 lights for years - an Ott and various others on the sides, along with a craft foam background; recently purchased 2 inexpensive LED table lamps from Wally World (not the ones pictured) and really like them.

Daylight Company Lumi Task light…I like this lamp a lot, it’s over my vise in NV

I also have a Norvise light/magnifier which is IMG_2211.jpegover my Traveler’s in WA…it does require a Nor vise post to mount it (I also got the bamboo board with waste basket to set my vise on)

This photo shows both lights before I moved the Norvise light and board to WA

What @Scottp and @SurfnFish said. My Ott Light is 20 plus years old and Im still using the same light bulb set up. Probably have minimum of 1000 hours of tying using the light. The closest comparable Ott Model now, to what I have, is the dimmable LED Task Lap. Excellent light source.

The white craft foam background works wonders. You can also just use white printer paper.

Have fun.

If you go to Joannes check out their threads, tinsel spools, glass beads and tinsel wires.

last sale haul came home with fine paint brushes, wire, masking tape, adhesives, a pair of German embroidery scissors, coupla of snap lid storage boxes and some Loctite thread lock...really is worth having their phone app for sales alerts

Those are great prices at Joann's! I'm using this Ottlite floor lamp beside my little rolltop desk. I picked it up from Facebook Marketplace. Space on my desk is limited so I went with a floor lamp supplement with some led strips under the shelf. The 24W provides nice light for the vice. I removed the magnifier and clip since they unfortunately weren't quite long enough to reach around the side of the desk.
