The Stonedfish/Bambooflyguy monthly lake dry fly challenge!

Still trying to catch one on the emerger.
I saw 2 fish rise today and had one long shot with the paraloop emerger.
Size 14 splash was my only reward. I did get to test my newly restored 50+ year old pram.
Months of hard work paid off with a very functional light weight pram.

Bummer, I fished dry emerger but failed to connect. They were taking some adults off the surface but as Steve noted it was a Soft hackle day

Hey! I got my March emerger fish today! And 13 others sight casting a midge soft hackle In about 2’ of water…..
Good job! Are you still going to try to get one on an actual DRY FLY? We believe in you!

Steve told me yesterday that he called BS on 7/9 on March 1 well he should remember I do not lie on what I catch I am a grown adult I can accept failures an try harder next time.
I only landed 4 fish 1 wet line 3 on a PA fly

Matt, we count emergers as dries….they float on the surface and I watch them eat! Our original post says dry/emerger….unfortunately no caddis or mayfly hatch yet…..

Well I count pennies as dollars, can we make a deal on one of those vintage fly reels you have there partner?

I’m gonna start counting bait fishing as fly fishing, too!

They were leaping all about yesterday at a certain Thurston Co. lake, but I only had sinking lines…
Ain’t that always the way? Wait a second, you mean to tell me you didn’t have a rod rigged for both deep water indicator fishing (15-25 ft) and shallow indi fishing (1-15 ft) that you could’ve switched over after a minimum of 30 minutes of dinking around during which time the fish would stop rising and stop biting altogether and then the sun goes down? And the temperature drops 25 degrees? And the wind picks up? And a beaver slap nearly makes you mess yourself? And you get a rats nest on your first cast after re rigging and then it’s too dark to see?

BriGuy, we had a little surg in the tugs after you left and then the fish started jumping almost like someone commanded them to jump.
Awesome day even for the guy catching sore-backs.

Haha! Exactly...
I always carry 3 rods on the lake-
5wt bobber setup rigged with 1 fly (usually a #10 or 12 Bruised balanced leech) ready to go. Usually add a 2nd when I get there.
3 or 4wt dry/emerger setup rigged with a super secret emerger, you know like a #16 Adams or BWO that has been beat to hell. 😁
4 or 6wt troll/strip rod setup rigged with type 3 sinker and my #8 black & green w/ a white bead bugger.

If I'm in the big boat I'll throw in a 4th rod- 5wt type 6 sinker for troll/strip with something either really ugly or really pretty on.

What sucks (not really...) is when the bobber just keeps going down so you never breakout the dry/emerger rod. :ROFLMAO:

Well Steve, you saw me try my dry tonight for 10 minutes. Haha! I'm still hunting for my first dry fish of the year. At this rate, it'll probably be a bass.
Fun fishing with you and @BigSplashTom tonight. Good luck tomorrow!
