Went fishing this morning. Winter and spring is a good time to split time on the water between fresh and salt on any given day. Cuttie day for me…coastal and SRC. 2 of the former, 4 of the latter.

I don’t know what they feed these coastal cuts in the hatchery but they are sure pretty.

Braved the frigid air, blustery winds, and wader bootie with a dime sized hole in it to catch some coastal cutts on a tiny stream... Even caught an 11" rainbow where there's never been rainbows before, at least not until they removed the last small dam downstream last summer. I was wondering if they were going to be moving up, seem to be. Hopefully they don't out compete the cutts, i rarely catch them this size up there...

Hit a nearby wildlife refuge today. You will have to zoom in, cellphone pics.

Canadian geese exiting above. The sound of their wings when they took off in mass caught my attention, then the honking.
They left the group below that includes some snow geese. 50172F9E-B859-4F92-A1E7-7387606462A2.jpeg
Zoom in beyond the pond, that dark strip in the grass is a thousand or so Canadian and a hundred or so Snow geese. The pond contained Northern Shovelers, Mallards, some Coots, and Northern Pintails. Other ponds we passed had Tundra Swans, Ring-necks, Egrets, and American Widgeon. We saw 20 + Bald Eagles on the way in near some fields of lambs. 10’s of Kestrel, a couple Red Tailed Hawks, a few Harrier, and a Rough Legged Hawk.
Top it all of with a herd of 54, 8 spikes, one fork.622E973D-B9AD-411D-A94A-18315B47EC24.png

An evening, and a day to go!
