Storing all those fly rods

I have a couple of bamboo rods I bought at an estate sale and they have no rod tubes. I assume they shouldn’t lean up against a wall for a long time or might get a permanent bend, especially in the tip? Or is that not something to worry about? I like the idea of the blueprint holders, but having hard time justifying close to $50 for one made out of corrugated cardboard.
A stick of abs pipe is cheap at Home Depot and can be cut up into multiple tubes. Just buy the appropriate end caps. Probably around $8-9 a tube

you can make some pretty inexpensive tubes out of abs pipe and end caps

I have one with a fixed cap on one end and a cap connected by Bungie cord on the other. Bombproof and cheap!

if u have a dedicated tying room, any chance u could store rods along the ceiling ? get to see them when u are working.

like this 20 tube holder on Amazon...these days I leave my rods strung in horizontal and vertical racks...now down to 9 sh rods and an 11' 9 wt switch w/CLA 6 that hasn't seen a salmon in 5 years..likely time to move it on

the pipes for built-in vacuum cleaners are much lighter than the ABS or PVC pipe at HD.

If you really want to go ham, scratch up the tube with a rasp. Really gouge it, then sand it down. hit it with wood stain, and you can get a cool wood grain finish. I did it once, and it was way more trouble than it was worth, but I know that there are others here looking for a winter project.

My rods are stored variously, in my basement fishing gear storage closet, in the garage against the west wall, in my pram, and upstairs in the garage attic. Hah! Organization if for people who don't like looking for shit. Actually, I hate looking for shit. I should probably organize my rod storage, and reels, and a buncha' other stuff too.

@Dave Westburg found an online source for these but I can’t remember, or find where we got them from. Maybe he’ll chime in here. I think they were originally meant for storing welding rods.

Don’t know why my photos are all getting posted sideways here lately… they are sitting in there vertically as bamboo should be stored.

My current rod storage condition and reel/line storage. Got lots of plans coming up. 😉
And in fairness some rod were purchased with the idea the wife would start fly fishing….. but I have. It asked her yet 😆
( Saving that Brio train wood set for grandkids 😉). Soon as I get rid of it sure enough, well some of you may know how that
