Emphasis mine. Thought that was interesting.Salish Sea Model provides insights on circulation and residence times
The amount of time water circulates and "resides" in Puget Sound is of intense interest to regulators and emergency response officials who want to understand how quickly wastewater is flushed out of Puget Sound and into the ocean. A paper in the journal Estuarine, Coastal and Shelf Science reports that contrary to expectation, flushing of deeper waters may take longer in wintertime in large fjord-like basins such as Hood Canal. A new, higher resolution version of the Salish Sea Model shows that increased amounts of freshwater from rain-swollen rivers result in stronger stratification during that period reducing vertical diffusion and mixing. The paper is co-authored by PSI affiliates Lakshitha Premathilake and Tarang Khangaonkar. View the paper.
Brian, the last fish is a beast, very nice. Do I see a little snow on the back of your nitrile'd hand in one pic?
Those are a bit thin but cool AF either wayNice plump fish Brian, mines were a bunch of snakes this morning. Got them all on the little chum fry.
Fished 4 beaches, 4/6 at the first, 1/1 at second, and blanked out on the last 2 but it was really nice and sunny by then so no huge surprises there.

I didn't see any chum fry Brian. Water was clear, smooth and under sunny condition they would be easily spotted if around.Lou,
Good job. It’s getting to be peak spawning time so some skinny fish are kind of expected I’d guess. That one buck has an impressive head.
Did you see any chum fry? I didn’t see any yesterday. It’s just a bit early still but I was thinking there might be some summer chum fry around since they return earlier.
I fished a different beach today. Very dead.
If anyone is missing part of their lawn chair, one floral flip flop, red cross fire sunglasses or cleaning scrubber, please send me a pm.

That is some cool spotting towards the caudal, distinctively different from the rest of the fish. Congrats on the ‘23 grab!I had a half day window and the weather was great so off I went trying to get on the board for 2023. I fished 3 beaches in MA13 and only had action at one of them. It was pretty slow but I spied 1 fish rooting around in the shellfish beds in about 1 foot of water. 2 casts with a euphasid pattern later and we were in business. It was a pretty skinny fish and was pretty lethargic, but I was glad to have it.

I missed one other at the same beach before the tide quit moving. No chum fry spotted , despite being near a known spawning stream.
Maybe we should hit the water together and break the tie! We’re tied now Gary........we’re killing it!
