Got any bird pics?

While weed wacking cheat grass along the driveway a quail suddenly appeared 4 ft in front of me. I skirted a small pile of brush and finished trimming weeds. I then began to wonder why the quail appeared that close. Went back to pile of brush and noticed a tunnel entrance, and eggs tucked under the brush. She is on the nest, letting me get this picture from 3 ft away.

Bird ID question for the bird experts.
While driving around yesterday, I notice a bird fly up and land on a fence post. It looked like a jay to me. It was smaller then a steller jay and had much lighter blue wings then a steller and a white chest. Any suggestions or guesses what it might have been?
Since I was driving, I couldn't get a picture. Can't say I've seen this type of bird before in the Seattle area.

Specifically that is the California scrub jay, I see them in the south sound from time to time but they are present in huge numbers at the in-laws' place in central valley California. A couple of maps of interest showing their range

Cool, thanks for sharing that.
Looks like they are more common in the Deep South sound. The one I saw was in north Seattle. Based on the maps that looks a bit more uncommon to see them up here. I’ll have to keep an eye out for more sightings.

The Washington map is 22 years old, I could see an argument for climate change pushing them northward over time.
